Santa Clarita - Whitney & Elsmere Canyons

These two beautiful, shady canyons provide an interesting variety of trail options.
Elsmere was one of the earliest oil-drilling areas in California; you'll see natural tar seeps along the trails.

Take transit to Sierra Hwy/Newhall Ave. (directions)

Cross to south side of Newhall, walk 1/3 mile east on Newhall to trailheads.
